Priority Slot Requests
In January, programs are invited to participate in the Notice of Funding for Students, giving institutions the opportunity to apply for Fellowship slots at their own discretion to ensure their students have the opportunity to participate.
Support for University Strategic Plans
Recruitment: OUSF AmeriCorps Members in Education 1 and 2 Focus Areas support the pathways of education for K-16 students encouraging academic success and preparing students for higher education.
Student Success, Retention and Completion: The Financial Award earned by OUSF AmeriCorps Members supports paying for their current and future education including school fees and student loan expenses.
Generate Knowledge, Growth, and Education Demand: Students are encouraged to participate in Member Development Hours during their term of service which is personal and professional development as well as various career preparation events hosted by the State Service Commission, UServeUtah.
Engage Communities: All AmeriCorps Terms with OUSF are partnerships with government and non-profit sites. Students are often placed according to their educational plans or interests if choosing to serve outside of their department. The standard requirements of AmeriCorps members ensure strong and valuable relationships are built between students, schools, and the community.

Student Funding - Segal AmeriCorps Education Award
The Fellowship provides non-competitive educational funding designed to be available to irregardless of merit or need. Each OUSF Fellow will receive an Education Award upon successful completion of their service term. The Education Award is funded and paid on behalf of the fellow through the National Service Trust, an account in the Treasury of the United States. The Education Award amounts are based on the number of service hours completed, shown below for the 2024-2025 Year:
675 Hours - $2,817.14
1200 Hours - $5,176.50
1700 Hours - $7,395.00
100 Hours - $416.17
300 Hour term - $1,565.08
450 Hour term - $1,956.35
Since 1994, Higher Education Institutions in Utah have received millions in Segal Education Awards towards the current education expenses of their students.
